La Greca Blog
A woman's secrets should be kept locked at all times, whereas her virtues should be revealed and - even more - intensified and accentuated. Andria Thomais' creations caress the female body closely or loosely enough to ensure that it remains mysterious and seductive at the same time. The graceful fashion designer, whom I had the pleasure to meet long ago in my hometown, plunges fashion lovers into a world of luxury and divinity.
It has always been her pursuit to bring out the best in a woman. And women have loved her for that for many years all over Greece, New York and Paris. Educated in the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, the Greek equivalent of Elie Saab knows how to handle delicate fabrics, while her exploratory spirit encourages her to innovate and reinvent herself each season. She has evolved immensely, since I witnessed her first successful steps in Thessaloniki and Athens. Her effortless imagination combined with her Greek influences and international background results into ethereal dresses with a luxurious silky feel. Yet, they are nothing like what we are used to see in the so-much-worn Cavalli, Gucci or Versace gowns. Andria lets the waist free in many of her creations, giving way to assumptions and creating a carefree, somewhat bohemian allusion to goddesses and spirits of nature. Her darker winter collections are not only elegant and sober, but also remind me of Chanel creations with a more contemporary and sometimes playful twist in the way she forms pleats and folds. Her wedding dresses are just out of this world. Now it's time for Belgian ladies to indulge, starting from Knokke!
When I heard the confident 'yes' coming from the lips of this young-spirited entrepreneur, who knows how to detect and seize a worthwhile opportunity, I could barely suppress my excitement. Along with La Greca Blog Statement items and NOË shoes and bags, as of July 2015, her prêt–à–porter summer 2015 and winter 2016 collections are available at 111 Kustlaan in Knokke at least until this November. You can also discover some of her previous collection pieces there, which I undoubtedly recommend, since classy is never out of date. I am certain the grand catwalk show on Nacht Van het Zoute will be merely the start of the new Belgian addiction to Greek haute couture...
