Color is entering the new season and that is nothing but subtle. The trend that caught my eye is this aquarelle-like ink perfusion into light, luxurious fabrics, drawing on the bohemian florals of the previous season but giving them an impressionistic romantic feel. Pastels gain a new substance with a gray/lavender undertone, and yellow prevails as the new black.
Red interestingly remains part of the Pantone SS18 palette, in a mystic dark version but also under the name "cherry tomato". Fruity red works better for me on sunny days though (see NATAN below). I love the joyful energy and honesty of that color and I believe most women will prefer it to Pantone's "spiced apple", which can more fittingly work as an intelligent and quietly glamorous winter option.
For the lovers of the intense, there is a limited aray to choose from: strong shades of sailor blue, ultra violet, palace blue, lime punch and rapture rose. But bear with me: combine these with one or several of the pastels... and you are GAME.
Stay tuned for more on this season's fabric and combo trends...
