A single string of fishing line, real cultured pearl, Austrian Swarovski crystals, natural bone or horn, mat or sparkling beads of all sorts and color shades... When these raw materials are handed to a pair of flexible, skillful hands of a modern, stylish woman with galloping imagination, the outcome is breathtaking.
Mary-Ellen Art Jewels drew my attention a long time ago, when I first met the young designer at a fashion event in Thessaloniki. But, since timing is everything, it was only this year that I decided to spread my excitement beyond Greek borders. In a hot classic red lace cocktail dress, Mary-Ellen was definitely in the spotlight that evening. As she was posing for her entrance picture, I couldn’t help but notice a stunning embellished red cuff bracelet which adorned her right arm and a ring attached to it with a thin silver chain. It was a piece of her winter collection which would soon be showcased on stage.
I have always carried a deep admiration for all things authentic, created with bare hands. This appreciation grew bigger, when I met Mary-Ellen Tziouvara in person, a sweet, educated, smart surveying engineer from the town of Grevena, with postgraduate management studies, who wants to develop her hobby into a business and seriously become part of the art world. So far, her pieces of jewelry have been hosted only in Greek art galleries and art museums in luxurious destinations, such as Elounda in Crete. I am happy to represent a designer I can now call my friend and – who knows - perhaps we will someday spot her work in our Zeedijk...
Enjoy my best picks and my photo shoot with Dior and Chanel perfumes which match the style of each Art Jewel!
