Time. Light. Measurable yet fleeting in nature. From the moment I received the gift of motherhood, this notion of time slipping through my fingers gave me cold feet. I got stressed and my heart flickered every night when I drew the curtains and my Madeleine closed her eyelids to dream. Morpheus would change her and she would start growing up.
In no time, did I upgrade into an iPhone 7 Plus and started shooting. Photographs seemed the means to capture those split-second moments of light in her daily endeavors for discovery. A grin, a cheeky look, a funny mischief with good but less than perfect resolution and a bit blurry on the constantly moving chubby little hands...but what about the depiction of our profound connection? Our mother and daughter moments deserved more than struggling, clumsy selfies between feedings and diaper changes.
Komninos Moutsopoulos, known as "the master of light" took up the project with great enthusiasm - as usually one of the most perceptive and exceptionally kind professionals to work with. In purely natural sunlight in his renovated studio in Thessaloniki, Greece, a series of artistic photo shoots extending through different periods of Madeleine's childhood will constitute part of her memory scrapbook, a little treasure which will transcend the limitations of time and will reflect the glow she has brought into our lives.
Komninos travels abroad for photo shoot projects.
